SWITCHING PLAY TRAINING SESSION

6v6 game using the central boxes as reference points for the 2 cms to support the switch by giving good angles.

COMP 1

6v4 as before the middle players need to move as the ball is moving and make sure they are always in opposite boxes

progression: players play two touch max, if defenders win ball they can score in either goal


WARM UP

yellows switch there ball as do greens, both need to make sure their central players are always in diagonally opposite boxes from each other. red players switch their ball using any central players that are available for a pass

progression: add a defender in the middle trying to win a ball


GAME

5v5 in the middle with the players trying to play into striker then support him. 3 can support like the drill and once the ball goes into the strikers area the defenders can recover


DEVELOPMENT

Passing pattern as before leading to a four v two with two recovering defender


INTRO

A switch of play and then the ball is played into strikers feet who has came to receive the ball. the ball is then set back to the midfielder making an across the face run who passes the ball out wide to restart the routine


STRIKER MOVEMENT 4-4-2

Players can go into any zone when there team has possession but must stay in their dedicated zone out of possession or recover to their zone when their team loose the ball.

Progression, 1/2 defenders can recover into a zone behind them when the ball goes in


COMP 1

Add defenders and make the drill live with the strikers having to decide the best method to get to goal. Defenders cannot leave the marked out area until the ball does giving the strikers an oppertunity to bring out the sequences worked on, but must be done with quality or defenders will win the ball and should go and attack in small goal


WARM UP

Striker movement:
Option 1: 1st striker engages defender by coming to the ball, allowing a pass into the 2nd striker for the 1st striker to play off and have a shot on goal

Option 2: 1st striker engages defender by playing a bounce pass, this triggers the movement off the 2nd striker wide for a ball down the line and then a potential shot or cut back


STRIKER WORK

Striker movement, finishing and 1v1 to goal exercise with a lot of coaching oppertunities such as:

-Link up play
-Playing with back to goal
-Laying off
-Ball striking
-Receiving to turn and play forward (pass from coach)
-Commiting defenders and taking them on
-Volleys and half volleys should you wish to start flicking the ball up as lay off
