Phil Jackson – 7 Principles for a Solid Attack
1. PENETRATION
Players must penetrate in the opposing defense, and the best way to do this is through counterattack.
2. PLACEMENT AND DISTRIBUTION IN FIELD
Players must distance themselves to difficult the defensive work of the defenders. The attackers must put themselves leaving a certain distance between them.
3. BALL AND PLAYERS MOVEMENTS
The attackers must move and pass the ball with an objective. Effective movements without the ball are very important.
4. OPTIONS FOR THE BALL CARRIER
The players without the ball must provide several options for the attacker with the ball.
5. OFFENSIVE REBOUND AND DEFENSIVE BALANCE
In all the shots made in attack, some attackers must go to the offensive rebound, while others must ensure a good defensive balance to avoid opponent’s counterattack.
6. VERSATILE POSITIONING
Any attacker player can play in any attacking position, however the players must ensure that all the positions are occupied.
7. USE THE INDIVIDUAL TALENTS
In the offensive game, we must take advantage of the finishing talent of some players.
