Possession Play to finish – 1. ANIMATION

PLAYERS: 10+GK SPACE: INTENSITY: med/high
TIME: REPETITIONS: REST: 2'

In a situation of 3v3 inside the box, and 4 floaters playing outside the box and shaping as a back line. All the players are limited to 2 touches (we can progress it to 1 touch for the floaters). The objective of the attackers is to score a goal after playing the ball from one full back to the other one. If they don’t they can’t finish the action. The action can be finished by shooting or either by crossing (coming from a full back) and finishing. Recovery runs are allowed. If the defenders win the ball back, they can score without any condition. Progression: If our players accomplish the objective of the drill quick enough, we can add decision making during the offensive transition phase. If the defenders win the ball they have 2 options: (1) finish the action going forward (same as previously described), and (2) start the offensive phase using one of the defenders. In this case, then they need to play from one full back to the other before finishing the action. Coaching points: body shape, defensive timing, optimum width, optimum depth, receiving between lines, oriented control, distance of relation, distance in the line, and distance in between lines. REMEMBER: it will be more beneficial for our players if we focus on one or two coaching points.

born in Barcelona and actually living in Glasgow. I used to play football in a small team in my city, and it was then when I had a knee injury and I started coaching at young ages, as well as getting my formation and my coaching badges not only about football (UEFA licences) but also about physical preparation. After coming back from injury I signed for CE Sabadell, where I played for one and a half years, but during the first week of training, I injured my other knee and I had to stop for a full year before coming back again. During that time I expanded my knowledge about the game, focusing on aspects like periodization (both tactical and conditional), planning, and methodology. I have experience coaching in both men's and women's football at both young and senior level. I currently coach the ladies first team of Rangers FC.
