This simulates a game situation where the ball reaches the players in a tight zone and they should not lose it. i.e, at the sides of their penalty box under pressure of forwards, at the goal line avoiding a corner kick… etc.
The team in possession aim to 5 passes, when completed, the player assigned for it, gets into the channel creating best angles with the ball for his mates to pass him, he receives and passes directly to the next zone. Players now keep possession for set number of passes, then pass to the next channel. Passing to the channel simulates passing the ball to a player near the sidelines forces him to control and his mates to weigh the pass.
I believe in this type of rondos, and i believe that rondos must be deliberate. It is not just a warm up, it must simulate game situations with the players being aware of the ball movement the whole drill span. However, this and previous drills are just examples of hundreds other drills that should be meaningful.
