World Cup 2014 Teams: Australia [Download]

Australia will compete in its fourth World Cup, being this one the third in a row. A great evolution for the country of Rugby. the team, which will be hosted in Vitória-ES, comes from a disturbed period. After some impressive loses and changing coaches twice, the Australian will have to sweat their jerseys to pass to the playoffs.

The reason are its opponents. In the groups draw, the “Socceross”(expression that names the team) are simply in the same group as Spain, Netherlands and Chile. Detail: Spain and Netherlands made the last World Cup Final, in 2010. Besides that, Chile has been performing a very beautiful football.

Some people say they expect a not good Australian performance in the tournament, once more than the tough opponents, the players from the best Australian generation are old and the new one is not the same thing.

Check the main players of the current squad:


Tim Cahill (New York Red Bulls-USA): he is the main player. Forward, he has in his feet the responsibility to put the ball in the goal and who know guarantee a win against Spain or Netherlands. Main Characteristics:  marking, heading, tactical defensive contribution,passing.


Lucas Neill (Omiya Ardija-JPN): Experienced, the defender played for West Ham, Everton, Galatasaray and Al Jazira. 35 years old, he will be the Sheriff in the Australian defense. . 


Brett Holman (Al Nasr-UAE): he was champion of the Eredivisie (Dutch League) for AZ in 2009. More than that, he is in the Australia National Team since the U17. Playing in the midfield, contributes for both defensive and offensive systems. Main Characterístics:  tackling, passing, long distance shooting.
