Transition – Pressing
The set up:
2 boxes that overlap (area dependent on group size/age/ability)
The teams in possession are able to use their full area whilst the defending team can send 2/3 players into the opposition area (again this is dependent on group size/age/ability) the rest of the team must stay out of the area.
If the defending teams makes a tackle and the ball goes out of play then they will gain possession, if they win the ball back they can score by making a pass into their area.
· Angel of approach
· Angles of support
· Strength (in the tackle)
· Decision Making
· Problem Solving
· The defending team can enter the area to step in to intercept
· More players can enter the opposition area
· If the players pressing are on one side of the area and the opposition switch play then another defender can enter to press if he is closer to the ball. The furthest defender then leaves the area to give covering support
