DRILL 1

The ball is driven in then set back for the original player to play the next pass in the sequence.

Pattern continues as shown focusing on the weight and quality of the driven pass and set back - also looking at timing runs to arrive on the ball instead of ever standing still

COMP 2

3v3 in first zone looking to play into a 3v2 or miss the middle zone out and hit the ST from where the midfield 3 can support to make a 4v2 in the final third.

Ball must travel through the second 2 cones, either into the ST feet or if he vacates the space it can be played through to wide players or the CAM can maybe dribble through the break the line.

COMP 1

The build up is the same as the warm up but when the striker receives the ball they have a decision to make as it is now 2v1 to goal (striker and winger v defender). The defender presses the first ball on their side but lets it develop and then must run around the cones and defend goal side of the line.

Progression, work both sides. Add a defender in the box to make it 2v2 to goal

WARM UP

Ball is played wide to the full back who opens up to play the winger, when the winger receives the ball he bounces it back which is the trigger for the striker to come and look for the pass through the lines, from there the winger makes a wide run to receive the strikers round the corner pass and go on to finish on goal.

Work both sides, players move up 1 position on rotation

LONG PASSES

Playing longer passes.

4v4+1 (adaptable) with a modified pitch and rules to encourage longer passes. The team in possession must touch the ball in at least 2 zones before playing a pass into a coach who re-starts play by passing to the other team.

I found with this game there is lots of activity and players can still play short/sharp possession passes, but with the set up and rules it encourages more:

-Across field switches of play
-Long diagonal balls
-Passes down the channels
-The pass to score a point in itself is a long pass which would replicate a ball into the striker

GAME

Finishing on a game, each team has an attacking area that the opposition can't enter until the ball is touched in their by a player in the team in possession.

Meaning the opposition either need to be above the area which will aloow for through the line passes and runs onto the ball, or they need to sit off and allow someone to pick up the ball in the false 9 position.

From their coach technique of making things happen, being positive to go forward and creative to create chances on goal

Progression:

Free play

COMP

Playing as a false 9, in between opposition lines:

As before the defending teams players cannot enter the highlighted area until the player touchesthe ball, then play 4 v 2 with recovering defender to goal.

Progressions:

Add extra defenders or allow players to press inside the area where the false 9 is looking to pick up the ball

Coaching:

Scan as the ball travels, make quick decision weather to turn and drive or set the ball off to team mate and look to get back on it.

Be creative, take players on, look to play wall passes and if it opens up = shoot

INTRO

Individual training for the false 9, playing between the oppositions lines.

The ball is played in to the false 9, on his touch the opposition can enter the box (or chose not to and sit off) the player who passes the ball supports the pass to create a 2v2 to goal.

Have both teams going at the same time and to encourage speed of play have a competition to score first. Defenders who win the ball can go and score for an extra point, play first to a certain amount of points. Animation shows rotation of players

Coaching:

Scan as the ball travels, make quick decision weather to turn and drive or set the ball off to team mate and look to get back on it.

Be creative, take players on, look to play wall passes and if it opens up = shoot
