FURTHER PROGRESSION
Rules:
The attackers have their zones as do the defenders. The attackers play 2 touch and any player can score in any goal (after a minimum of 2 passes). Their aim is to score as many goals as possible, when a defender gets the ball then the teams switch and the other team try and score more goals.
In this progression all 4 players in possession can rotate around the zones freely (defenders stick to their zones) however whena goal is scored the team in possession must have a player in each zone
THE FUN, ENERGY AND TEMPO HERE COMES FROM BEING COMPETITIVE, TRYING TO SCORE AS MANY GOALS AS POSSIBLE AND SET A RECORD THAT WON'T BE BEATEN BY THE OTHER TEAM
Final progression:
4v4 game
PROGRESSION
Rules:

As above, which is the previous drill however the two central players can rotate zones.
They can only rotate when a wide player has the ball as they should not find themselves in the same zone at the same time - a goal only counts when all 4 zones are occupied (scanning). If you score when there are two players in 1 zone, the attackers lose and swap with the defending team

RONDO
Rules:
The attackers have their zones as do the defenders. The attackers play 2 touch and any player can score in any goal (after a minimum of 2 passes). Their aim is to score as many goals as possible, when a defender gets the ball then the teams switch and the other team try and score more goals.
Technique/Decision Making:
1v1 attacking/turning/finishing
Combination play and movement off the ball
Firm short and long passes
Scanning
Through balls
Give and go, wall passes
Movement to create space for others
Awarness and decision making, score? possess?
Progressions1: 2 central attackers can rotate zones
Progression 2: 4 attackers can freely rotate zones but when a goal is scored all 4 zones must be occupied
CONSTANT FINISHING
Alternatives:
This drill will also work with the player who lays the ball off getting the ball and going back to the start
Progressions:
**The ball can be played in the air to work on controlling from the air and volleys/half volleys
**The player who plays the long pass to the corner can then defend against the player who is going to shoot meaning they will need to have good movements to create space and get a shot. And the wall pass player will need to lift their head to find the striker and not the defender
GAME
Passing to play forward
game - 3v3+1 with the aim of hitting the target player and scoring off him/her
can minimize touches to challenge players
EXERCISE
Passing to play forward
Coaching as shown at end of animation.
Break down the technique of the driven pass and movement out wide. Also address scanning, especially as the ball is traveling to end player who must recognise where pressure is coming from and play the other side
GAME
game is 5v5 and each team has an extra centre mid and two wingers, the two wingers must stay wide and the cm has to always try and play to a winger when possible, apart from that it is a completely free game with the players allowed to go anywhere and have free play.
scoring: 10 passes is a goal or goals can be scored as normal this encourages players to use the width as either and opportunity to score, an opportunity to possess the ball or as a decoy to play centrally
PROGRESSION
Progression, there is no sequence now and the ball can go back beyond the mannequins as the switch might be the best option. because of the previous drill the defenders will be cautious of the ball wide so the wingers keep getting wide and looking to get on the ball but this may give the option to play through to a striker.
if defenders win the ball aim to counter attack into other goal
EXERCISE
the two centre midfielders bounce the ball off the striker and then the ball is played out wide, working alternate sides. once the ball is ahead of the mannequins it cannot be played back, players need to get up and support and we are looking for the cross and finish
