4V4 TRANSITION TO GOAL GAME
2v2 with a player who plays for the team in possession meaning 3v2 in the middle square.
The aim of this breakout game is for the players around the outside to be ready and react quickly when the ball is played. If you are on the side and don't get the ball you need to transition quickly to close space so the now 4 attackers can't quickly play through the lines and go to goal.
Rotation = can rotate the 4 on the outside with the 2v2 players in the middle and keep the middle roaming player in then for as long as you want to work 1 of your players who need to be challenged and work well as a possession player.
4V2 RONDO TO GOAL
players are set into 3 teams of 2 and 2 teams play against the other to keep possession in a rondo. The player who gives the ball away must react quickly along with his/her team mate to win it back before the defenders who won the ball can score a goal meaning the player who gave it away and their team mate is now in the middle.
The outside team of 4 are looking to make 10 passes then finish on goal making this a quick 1/2 touch combination play to goal exercise.
If you win it back before the defenders win and score then the rondo simply continues
Possible progressions:
- 1 touch
- must score with a header or volley
-anytime you split the two defenders with a pass the receiving player can then turn and shoot or lay another player off to shoot even if 10 passes has yet to be reacher.. this encourages patients to create the split pass but once it's made the attacking team are through the lines and become ruthless to score a goal quickly
3V1 REACTION RONDO
3V1 Reaction Rondo
Coach players to react quickly and get up and down the pitch with this fun but technical drill.
A simple 3v1 rondo with the aim of maintaining possession by always showing and creating angles to receive a pass. When the ball is won by the player in the middle it is an immediate race for the other 3 players to try and be first to 1 of the 2 far away cones. The last player becomes the person in the middle of the next rondo, so it's not neccessarily always the player who gave the ball away that is in the middle.
Explain to young players the importance of getting up and down the pitch and reacting quickly:
- To support attacks when the ball is won
- To help the defence when the ball is lost
Good for touch, fitness, reactions, transition but most of all something a bit different and fun.
3 GOAL STIKER MOVEMENT AND REACTION
striker movement and reaction exercise.
if the striker misses then the play is still alive and the first to react will get the advantage
you can use your centre back as a spare player during possession
2VS2 SCANNING AND TRANSITION GAME
Teams play 2v2 with the winning team staying on. If your team concede you must quickly swap with the team behind the goals you were defending. If the ball goes out of play, both teams switch.
Players behind the goals are passing a ball and must always be checking the shoulder to see when they must enter the pitch. I have placed a keeper at the side working on distribution and passing the ball into the first team on the pitch and ready meaning players must always be scanning and reacting quick to come on, otherwise they may be scored against immediately.
