GAME

Finishing on a game, each team has an attacking area that the opposition can't enter until the ball is touched in their by a player in the team in possession.

Meaning the opposition either need to be above the area which will aloow for through the line passes and runs onto the ball, or they need to sit off and allow someone to pick up the ball in the false 9 position.

From their coach technique of making things happen, being positive to go forward and creative to create chances on goal

Progression:

Free play

COMP

Playing as a false 9, in between opposition lines:

As before the defending teams players cannot enter the highlighted area until the player touchesthe ball, then play 4 v 2 with recovering defender to goal.

Progressions:

Add extra defenders or allow players to press inside the area where the false 9 is looking to pick up the ball

Coaching:

Scan as the ball travels, make quick decision weather to turn and drive or set the ball off to team mate and look to get back on it.

Be creative, take players on, look to play wall passes and if it opens up = shoot

INTRO

Individual training for the false 9, playing between the oppositions lines.

The ball is played in to the false 9, on his touch the opposition can enter the box (or chose not to and sit off) the player who passes the ball supports the pass to create a 2v2 to goal.

Have both teams going at the same time and to encourage speed of play have a competition to score first. Defenders who win the ball can go and score for an extra point, play first to a certain amount of points. Animation shows rotation of players

PASSING TO PLAY FORWARD

Passing to play forward

game - 3v3+1 with the aim of hitting the target player and scoring off him/her

can minimize touches to challenge players

EXERCISE

Passing to play forward

Coaching as shown at end of animation.

Break down the technique of the driven pass and movement out wide. Also address scanning, especially as the ball is traveling to end player who must recognise where pressure is coming from and play the other side

PASSING TO PLAY FORWARD 2

Passing to play forward

Coaching as shown at end of animation.

Break down the technique of the driven pass and movement out wide. Also address scanning, especially as the ball is traveling to end player who must recognise where pressure is coming from and play the other side

GAME

3v3 in the middle (add a roaming player if you want to have more success for players of a lesser ability)

After a minimum of 2 passes the team in possession are looking to pass or dribble out of the middle zone to create a 3v2 to goal in the direction they are shooting.

If defenders win the ball they pass into the small goals. Keep scores and be competitive.

Coach:

Width and pace when attacking
Committing defenders and playing disguised passes
Defending out numbered

Progressions:

If team win the ball in middle third they can break out immediately

If defenders win the ball when 3v2 instead of scoring in small goals they can pass back into their 3 to continue the game and hopefully start and instant attack

On breakout to final third allow a recovering defender to help the 2 current defenders which will put pressure on attackers to attack at pace

DEVELOPMENT

Set up as before but when the pass is played into the striker a defender comes to press that pass (rotate defenders often or introduce a player rotation from the start).

Decision Making:

Play the support player or spin for the shot/dribble to goal - this will depend on the defenders pressure/positioning.

Possible progressions:

If the defender wins the ball they get a point by playing a wide player who is waiting to go next (transition). Further transition would be to allow the defender to go all the way to the other goal under pressure of those who just lost the ball and using the support of his/her team mates who are still on the pitch from the previous turn (essentially becomes a 3v3 game)
