WARM UP

Long balls represent solution in many situations. Teams could pass long balls to transfer the play, pass behind defense line, and many other situations where on the ground passes could be intercepted or been intercepted many times during a game. Drills for such a pass could also be not plane.

Team in possession should keep the ball for set number of passes. 1 point scored when the ball successfully sent to the box in the middle. Another when the outside player successfully completes his long pass to the opponent. Then transition.

Defenders start the drill with mecium pressure. They still have to try to block the long balls. If they successfully win the ball, they should send the ball to their mate outside with a long ball. Hence, 1 point collected for defenders.

Progression: apply higher pressure, set seconds ( based on players’ abilities ) to finish the target, defenders could press with 1 player in the middle box and 1 at the edge, another 1 presses ( marks ) the out side player...

DEFENDERS SHOULD SCORE!

In this drill, the defenders are at the same time responsible for defending their goal in crosses, and score! The drill is designed so 2 goals at both sides of the penalty box. One usual and one at the 18 yard line. The defnders have to defend and mark forwards, at the same time they should try to finish in the 2nd goal. After the first flow is finished, the players sprint to the field. The other coach crosses, the first who gets to the ball scores whether defender or forward. The coach then sends another ball and any can score. The next 2 teams now come in.

BUILD UP

In this drill, the defenders take a role in building up. After the end of the attck, the ball is sent to one side. The player with the ball should pass to the neutral player in the box who should send it to the other side. The other side full back receives the ball and passes to his team mates who start a new attack.

Progression: goal could be added at the other end. The full back with the ball will have to cross to his mates.

SIMPLE INTRODUCTION

Sometimes defenders are excellent defenders. Yet, when they have the ball, the lack the ability to decide where he should the ball or what to do? Some ideas to help defenders in that area.

In this drill, the full back are the ones under focus. When the attack is finished, either scored or in the hands of the goal keeper, the ball is sent right away to one full back to finish at the small goal while being chased and pressured by the opponent. Another flow started so when finished, the other side full back is in action now. However, if defenders win the ball, they should pass the ball to one full back for the same action.

TECHNICAL.

This is a fun session and technical for the strikers. The 2 team compete for the ball with the goal keeper as their neutral. The striker stands out watching and waiting the team in possession to pass him the ball. He also takes responsibility for opening spaces and being diagonal to the ball. The team in possession have to pass in some set seconds to the goal keeper and to the striker to get the point. The striker finishes the ball, while the defending team try to block, but not tackle or pressure the striker.

ADVANCED 1

Advanced level drill, where strikers have to perform physical and tactical work. The number 9 of the team in possession starts running up to the poles. Once in the zone, he is marked by number 2, permanent defender. The role is to pass the ball to one side before you get to the dotted line. Once done, the strikee moves forward while still marked and finishes a cross. Then, the other other team starts rondo, while striker work is not yet finished. He recieves another pass from the goal line coach while still under the pressure of the defender. He recieves and finishes a 1v1 situation. Then the opponents' striker starts his action.
