STRIKER WORK

This is a drill demanding the striker to undergo physical challenge during the 3-4 minutes. Players in the rondo zone challenge. While the striker should touch the cones and go into the rondo zone. All that in previously set time by the coach, as well as a marking player, to apply more seriousness and pressure upon the striker. Once th striker gets in the rondo zone, team in defense role apply higher pressure on team in possession. Now, new timing begins. The high pressure by opponents and the time set by the coach to pass to number 9 and finish, all that to help players get faster and more accurate by time. Number 9 gets the ball into the zone and undergoes pressure by the defender, bounces the ball against the net, and gets to the next end doing and undergoing the same.

ANIMATION 5

This is the more advanced situation for full backs before the overlap. They undergo physical burden as well as tactical and technical work. They communicate better while working with the team in possession. Both full backs compete while sprinting. But the decision whether right or left back takes the next role depends on wether the ball in the right or left possession zone. This also obliges the players in possession to be aware of the closest full back and where they must send the ball next. After the finish of the attack, TRANSITION

ANIMATION 4

2 channels drill in which the players face more game like situation. Remember the drill is more about over laps. The 2 full back have to run the whole length of the playing zone till they reach their zone. The goal keeper passes the ball following the tactical instructions of his coach. The team undergoes high line pressure by the opponents. The middle zone obliges the overlap. Note the other side full back movement must also follow the tactical view of the coach, support, run, stay back...

PROGRESSION 2

Another progression puts the overlap player under the pressure of a marking man. He also now scans the area while looking for the better option to assist. The defender at the gate adds up more seriousness on the game. Once the overlap finished successfully, a new transition starts.

PROGRESSION 1

A little progression on the previous drill. After "overlap" is successful, the player with the ball under slight pressure of a defender, hits the ball to the far angle goal.

INTRODUCTION

The way we introduce skills to youngsters should be gradual with minimum pressure and maximum demonstration. This is a drill which we could utilise for that purpose. In a situation with 2-1 midfield formation, one full back is supporting at one side of the game. The purpose is to successfully pass the ball to the player with the bib, he passes to one mate, overlaps the gate, and receives a pass through that gate. Then he undergoes some pressure by the opponent waiting him outside before sending the ball back to coach at the zone of play. Same thing happens regarded to the other gate. When the team successfully does that, the play moves to the other side with the heart of many drills applied, TRANSITION.

ANIMATION 4

The video speaks more than the words. What is special about drills that defenders will have to organize or re organize twice every time. Once protecting the first goal keeper and the second time the second goal keeper.

Please note that these drills are general and not team specific. What I mean to say that every coach must have the ability to rin the drills the way best for his team and players. If you find your defenders while possession the ball and in attack, if you find they lose the ball easily, you might add another line of players responsible for attacks. Another suggestion would be adding one more player, could be neutral, to the team while on attack giving them more chance to hold the ball. These drills meant to focus on defenders and they must be devised to assure so.

2 GOALS

This a little more demanding game. 2 goals at each end putting defenders under more serious pressure for the protection of any of the 2 goals. They even undergo more pressure by the addition of one player into the attacking team.

MULTIPLE

A beautiful demanding game where defenders have to execute different roles. The game starts with a cross by one team to his mates in the box, They have some seconds set by the coach to finish their attack. Then, the other side coach passes to the opponents. The opponents only start the run when the defenders are at the midfield line. Every defender gets asap to his gate. Forwards also must finish during the set time. Once they finish, one forward or 2 move to the sides waiting for their defenders to arrive and cross or short pass the ball, and start over.
