Game
Here I have shown 4v4 with a player who plays for the team in possession to promote success. If possible the coach should also play for the team in possession – take part, have fun!
I would always encourage stacking the team in possession to help spreading out, instead of v4 if you have8 you could do 3v3+2 in a different colour bib who play for the team in possession – swap these players frequently.
THE GAME – there is 2 goals with a footballs on cones at each end. The coach feeds a ball into play and teams can score by scoring in ANY GOAL or knocking ANY BALL off a cone. This will encourage turning to go to other targets as turning with the ball has been done a lot in the session, also the goals and balls on cones represent a target so players are effectiveley working on passing when they aim for these targets.
If a player goes for a target and misses just forget about the ball and get another 1 in. If they hit the target ball the player needs to put it back on the cone before joining in again giving the other team a momentary advantage to get a goal themselves. Encourage energy and we are looking for lots of running about and ACTIVITY, avoid stopping the drill to over coach or talk for long periods of time
